Food and Supplies for Shih Tzus

Everything for a Shih Tzu

Shih Tzus combine a long double coat that mats within days and a flat face that struggles in heat — a demanding combination in Hyderabad. We stock 2 products suited to Shih Tzus.

Daily brushing, not weekly

A full Shih Tzu coat mats close to the skin within a few days. Brush daily to the skin with a pin brush, or keep the coat in a short puppy clip year-round.

Eyes need daily attention

Prominent eyes and facial hair mean corneal scratches and tear staining are common. Trim the hair around the eyes and wipe daily. See ear and eye care.

Flat face, limited heat tolerance

Shih Tzus overheat faster than most breeds. Early and late walks only, and air conditioning or a fan through the Hyderabad afternoon.

Crowded teeth need care

A small jaw with a full set of teeth means crowding, plaque and early dental disease. Brush regularly. See oral care.

Delivery and returns

Everything here is delivered anywhere in Hyderabad the same day, between 10 AM and 6 PM. Orders placed after 4:30 PM arrive next day by 12 PM. Delivery is free on orders over ₹799 in Hyderabad. Outside Hyderabad we send by courier across India, and the courier's charge is shown at checkout for your pin code. See Delivery across India.

Common questions

How often should I groom a Shih Tzu?

Brush daily and bathe every three to four weeks. Most Hyderabad owners keep the coat in a short clip, which is kinder in the heat and far easier to maintain.

Why are my Shih Tzu's eyes always watery?

Facial hair rubbing the cornea is the usual cause, along with shallow eye sockets. Keep the hair trimmed and see a vet if there is squinting, redness or cloudiness.

Can Shih Tzus handle Hyderabad summers?

Only with management. Indoor cooling through the day, walks confined to early morning and late evening, and a shorter coat clip during hot months.

What should I feed a Shih Tzu?

A small-breed formula with kibble small enough for a crowded jaw. Portion carefully — the breed gains weight easily on very little food.
