Everything for a Great Dane

Great Danes grow from under a kilogram to over fifty in eighteen months, and almost every health decision follows from that. Bloat is the breed's most urgent risk and can kill within hours. We stock 80 products suited to Great Danes and other giant breeds.

Bloat is a genuine emergency

A distended abdomen, unproductive retching and restlessness need immediate veterinary attention. Feed two or three smaller meals rather than one large one, and avoid vigorous exercise around mealtimes.

Giant-breed puppy food to 24 months

Controlled calcium and slower growth protect a skeleton that is still developing well past the point most dogs have finished. Never supplement calcium in a growing Dane.

Elevated feeding, carefully

Raised bowls reduce neck strain in a very tall dog. Their relationship with bloat risk is debated, so discuss with our vet rather than assuming.

Everything needs sizing up

Beds, collars, crates and dosing all sit at the top of the range. Check weight bands on any medication — many products stop below a Dane's adult weight.

What are the signs of bloat?

A hard swollen belly, repeated retching without bringing anything up, drooling and obvious distress. This is a same-day emergency; do not wait to see if it settles.

How long should a Great Dane eat puppy food?

Up to 24 months on a giant-breed formula. Their skeletons keep developing far longer than smaller breeds.

Do Great Danes need joint supplements?

Yes, and earlier than most breeds. The weight loading on their joints is enormous, and starting support in early adulthood is sensible.

How much exercise does a Great Dane puppy need?

Less than owners expect. Over-exercising a growing giant breed damages developing joints. Short, frequent, low-impact walks until growth plates close.
