Cat litter, and why cats reject it
Litter box refusal is the most common reason cats are given up in India, and it is usually a litter or box problem rather than a behaviour problem. We stock 43 cat litters — clumping bentonite, silica crystal, tofu, wood and paper — plus trays, scoops and mats.
A few things worth knowing
Never change litter suddenly. Mix the new litter in gradually over a week or two. An overnight switch is one of the most reliable ways to cause a cat to stop using the box.
Going outside the box can be medical. Cystitis, crystals and kidney disease all present as inappropriate urination, often before anything else shows. A previously reliable cat who suddenly stops using the box needs a vet, not a new litter.
Covered boxes need more cleaning. Hoods contain scatter and give privacy, but odour concentrates inside. A covered box that smells strong to you is intolerable to the cat using it.
Trays, scoops and mats sit separately. Litter boxes, hooded trays, mats and scoops are in litter supplies.
Delivery and returns
Cat litter is delivered anywhere in Hyderabad in 60 to 90 minutes, between 10 AM and 8 PM. Orders placed after 6:30 PM arrive next day by 12 PM. Delivery is free on Hyderabad orders over ₹799, and free over ₹999 across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We ship pan-India. Sealed bags can be returned within 7 days. Opened litter cannot be returned.
Common questions
How often should I change cat litter?
Scoop clumps daily. For clumping bentonite, replace fully every two to three weeks; for crystal, every three to four weeks. Daily scooping matters more than full changes.
Why has my cat started going outside the box?
Rule out illness first — cystitis and urinary crystals are common and painful. If the cat is healthy, look at cleanliness, litter type, box location and whether another cat is guarding access.
Is tofu litter better than bentonite?
It is lighter, flushable in small amounts and produces less dust, which suits households with respiratory sensitivity. It clumps softer and costs more per month. Both work; cat preference decides.
How do I stop litter being tracked across the house?
A textured mat outside the box catches most of it, and a higher-sided or top-entry box catches the rest. Fine-grain litters track more than coarse ones.
Can I flush cat litter down the toilet?
Not bentonite or crystal — both block drains. Some tofu and paper litters are marketed as flushable in small quantities, but Indian plumbing and the toxoplasmosis risk make binning it the safer choice.
