Rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and birds

Small pets get the thinnest advice of any category in India, which is a shame because most of what goes wrong with them is diet and it is entirely preventable. We stock 60 products for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds and fish.

Rabbits and guinea pigs

Hay is not bedding, it is the diet — it should be about 80% of what a rabbit or guinea pig eats, available constantly. Pellets are a supplement, not the meal. Rabbit teeth grow continuously and only chewing hay wears them down properly; without it you end up at a vet for dental spurs.

Guinea pigs cannot make their own vitamin C, so they need it supplemented daily. This is the single most common deficiency we see in them.

Hamsters

Syrian hamsters live alone. Housing two together ends in fighting, often fatally, however well it seems to start. They also need a wheel large enough that the back stays flat rather than curved — most wheels sold are too small.

Birds

A seed-only diet is the biggest cause of illness in pet birds in India. Formulated pellets should make up most of it, with seed as a treat. Keep cages well away from the kitchen — fumes from overheated non-stick pans kill birds within minutes, and it is the most common avoidable cause of sudden death. Full range in bird food and care.

Fish

Feed only what is eaten in two minutes. Overfeeding fouls the water, and water quality kills far more fish than hunger does. See aquarium supplies.

Small pet supplies are delivered anywhere in Hyderabad in 60 to 90 minutes, between 10 AM and 8 PM. Orders placed after 6:30 PM arrive next day by 12 PM. Delivery is free on Hyderabad orders over ₹799, and free over ₹999 across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We ship pan-India. Sealed food can be returned within 7 days.
