    Food and care for pet birds

    A seed-only diet is the single biggest cause of illness in pet birds in India — it is deficient in vitamin A, calcium and several amino acids. We stock 37 bird products — pellets, seed mixes, supplements, grit, cuttlebone and cage accessories for budgerigars, cockatiels, lovebirds, finches, canaries and larger parrots.

    Pellets over seed

    Formulated pellets should make up most of the diet. Seed is high in fat and low in vitamin A, and a seed-only bird is usually deficient long before it looks unwell.

    Fresh water twice a day

    Birds foul water quickly and bacteria multiply fast in Hyderabad heat. Change it morning and evening and scrub the container weekly.

    Calcium for laying hens

    Cuttlebone or a mineral block should always be available, particularly for females. Egg binding from calcium deficiency is a common emergency in budgies and cockatiels.

    Never use non-stick cookware nearby

    PTFE fumes from overheated non-stick pans kill birds within minutes. Keep cages well away from the kitchen — this is the most common avoidable cause of sudden death in pet birds.

    Delivery and returns

    Bird products are delivered anywhere in Hyderabad in 60 to 90 minutes, between 10 AM and 8 PM. Orders placed after 6:30 PM arrive next day by 12 PM. Delivery is free on Hyderabad orders over ₹799, and free over ₹999 across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We ship pan-India. Sealed packs can be returned within 7 days. Opened food cannot be returned.

    Common questions

    What should I feed my budgie?

    A formulated pellet as the base, with a small amount of seed, plus fresh vegetables daily. Millet and sunflower seed should be occasional treats, not the diet.

    How do I switch a bird from seed to pellets?

    Slowly, over several weeks, mixing increasing proportions. Birds are neophobic about food and some take months. Never starve a bird into switching — they lose condition dangerously fast.

    Does my bird need grit?

    Parrots, budgies and cockatiels do not — they shell seeds before swallowing. Finches, canaries and pigeons that swallow seed whole do benefit from small amounts.

    Why is my bird plucking its feathers?

    Boredom, poor diet, low humidity, mites or stress. It is a behavioural and medical problem combined, and worth investigating early — established plucking is very hard to reverse.
